Training camp friendly – TSG play Genoa

The TSG players will be participating in a training camp in Austria’s Windischgarsten from July 16th to July 23rd in preparation for the 2017/18 season. Alongside the training sessions, a friendly has also been scheduled. TSG will test themselves against Italian top-tier side Genoa on July 22nd.

A 17:00 CEST kickoff is scheduled for the match against Genoa, who finished 16th in the Serie A last season, and it will take place in FC Wels’ Renner Arena.

Manager Ivan Juric has two big names in his squad, namely: Goran Pandev and Giovanni Simeone. Macedonian football legend Pandev has played for Lazio, Roma, Napoli, Galatasaray, and Inter Milan throughout his illustrious career. He also won the treble (Serie A, Coppa Italia, Champions League) with the “Nerazzurri” under Jose Mourinho in the 2009/10 season, but has played for Genoa since 2015, scoring seven goals in 39 games. Simeone is known for the fact that his father, Diego Simeone, manages Atletico Madrid. The 21-year-old striker proved that he’s inherited some of his father’s footballing ability last season, after scoring 12 and assisting four in 35 league games last season.

TSG and FC Genoa have already crossed paths once, when they faced each other in TSG’s WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar-Arena opener in August 2014. Back then, Tarik Elyounoussi gave Hoffenheim an early lead (6’), before Luca Antonelli equalised ten minutes before the whistle for full time, meaning that the game ended 1-1.
