“Perfect until 5-0”

Here’s what the players and coaches had to say after TSG’s 5-3 win in Bremen.

Julian Nagelsmann: We’re obviously happy to have won, but at the end, it was tighter than necessary. We started very well, in the 4-3-3 shape we ran at Bremen very well and high up the pitch - they couldn’t build up play in a controlled way. It became 2-0 early on and both goals were well created. After 30 minutes, we changed back to our usual system and also did well like that. At half time we spoke about how we still wanted to keep pushing. We weren’t thinking about our goal difference or Dortmund. Things also went quickly and well after the break until it was 5-0. After some changes, we were unlucky. There were a few situations which we had to do better with, then we conceded. I think we could have scored seven or eight today, then our starting position for the coming week would have been better. That’s exactly how we have to win next week, just like Bremen must in Dortmund.

Alexander Nouri: The game is on my head. We had an idea, a plan, and it didn’t work out - it was also down to Hoffenheim being so strong. There were too many mistakes in our game and we weren’t aggressive enough, that’s how we went behind so quickly. In the second half we created chances, the fans helped us there and that’s how we scored three goals. The bottom line is we lost and it’s on my head.

Adam Szalai: I’m happy that I got the chance to play from the start today. The fact I was able to help the team with a goal and an assist makes it even better, and being the highest-scoring Hungarian in the Bundesliga is a big deal for me. We’re going home with three points – that makes me happy. In the second half, we started well but at the end conceded too many goals. We have to finish the game better.

Oliver Baumann: I'm happy that we won. Until the fifth goal we played a fantastic away game, then we were lacking something - we weren't aggressive enough and backed off. Bremen had too much room, we gifted them three goals which is annoying. We wanted to just concentrate on ourselves and not look at what was happening in Augsburg.

Andrej Kramaric: Until it was 5-0, we had played perfectly – then we were too relaxed and conceded three goals. That happens in the Bundesliga when you’re not at 100 percent. We’ll have to talk about that. I’m hopeful in regards to third place, maybe Bremen will be able to do us a favour next week. We have to win against Augsburg at all costs, that’s the bottom line.
