TSG earn point in Freiburg

TSG Hoffenheim and SC Freiburg could not be separated as their clash in the Bundesliga finished 1-1. After a goalless first half in which TSG were the better side, the hosts took the lead in the 56th minute through Maximilian Philipp. However Andrej Kramaric levelled things up with a deserved equaliser just four minutes later.

Personnel and tactics:

Julian Nagelsmann made two changes to the side that beat Ingolstadt at home. Jeremy Toljan and Andrej Kramaric started in place of Adam Szalai and Marco Terrazzino. In front of goalkeeper Oliver Baumann, in a back line of four, were Niklas Süle, Benjamin Hübner, Steven Zuber and Jeremy Toljan. The middle of the park was covered by Sebastian Rudy, who was making his 200th Bundesliga appearance and 185th for TSG, as well as Kevin Vogt. With Kerem Demirbay and Nadiem Amiri out wide, the attack was completed by Kramaric and Sandro Wagner.

However Nagelsmann was quick to change things up, reducing the defence to a back three after twenty minutes to allow Zuber and Toljan to take on a more attacking role. Hoffenheim made their first change of the afternoon after 73 minutes as Hübner was brought off for Ermin Bicakcic. Kramaric was replaced my Adam Szalai three minutes later and Nagelsmann made his final change with eight minutes to go, bringing on Marco Terrazzino for Amiri.

Moment of the match:

There weren’t many much better than this one. It also came at the perfect time. TSG equalised just two minutes after Freiburg had taken the lead. And what a sweet strike it was. Kramaric hits it from the left hand side just on the edge of the box. What a beauty, right into the top corner to get his fourth goal in as many games. This one may well end up being goal of the weekend.

Number of the match:

TSG had 23 shots in Freiburg, whereas the hosts managed just six during the 90 minutes. The away side only managed to beat SC keeper Alexander Schwolow, who made a number of fine saves. But this one was a dream goal from Kramaric
