Podolski bows out, Rudy comes on
Germany against England last night wasn’t your typical meeting between two rival nations, with the focus very much on an emotional farewell to Die Mannschaft great Lukas Podolski. He crowned his final cap with a wonderful goal to claim a 1-0 win for Joachim Löw’s side. Sebastian Rudy replaced the departing Podolski shortly before full time, although Niklas Süle didn’t feature in Dortmund.
The Germany national team are next in action on Sunday, with a World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan in Baku on the agenda from 18:00 CEST.
