TSG sign Florian Grillitsch

Florian Grillitsch will move to TSG on 1st July 2017. The 21-year-old Austrian will arrive on a free transfer from fellow Bundesliga side Werder Bremen and has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2021.

We’re very happy that we have secured Florian’s services so early on,” said TSG’s director of football, Alexander Rosen, who labelled Grillitsch as an “ideal transfer for centre midfield. The Austria youth international had numerous offers from other clubs. “In the end it was the prospects that Julian Nagelsmann and Herrn Rosen were offering me that made my decision to move to TSG such an easy one,” told Grillitsch.

Grillitsch, from Lower Austria, also followed the development of Hoffenheim under Nagelsmann closely. “The opportunity to be part of this type of team development is so appealing for young players.” The next few weeks will see Grillitsch remain focused on Bremen, a club to which he owes a lot. “I want to become injury-free again as quickly as possible, so that I can help us achieve our goals for the season.”

It is Grillitsch’s footballing brain that has appealed to Coach Julian Nagelsmann the most. “Florian is someone who always finds a playful solution and has very good vision. He fits well with our Ideas and he’ll bring a lot with him to help us strengthen.

Neunkirchen-born Grilitsch started his career with the SVSF Pottschach Reserves. After a spell in the AKA St. Polten youth team the 1m87 tall midfielder arrived at SV Werder Bremen in 2013 and began playing in the under-19s. After graduating to Werder’s U23s in Division Three he moved to the First Team where he has made 41 league and cup appearances to this point, scoring one goal. He has scored three goals in six games for Austria’s under-21s team.
