BVB match reaction

We spoke to the protagonists after TSG’s 2-2 draw against Borussia Dortmund.

Julian Nagelsmann: The first half wasn’t great as we didn’t react well to their pressing. They had three forwards, which offered us space to play in but we didn’t make the most of it. Despite that we went in front early on. There were some contentious moments today. I wouldn’t have had any complaints if our second had been ruled out. We were better after the break but played too directly at times. We had chances to win the game – Andrej and Jeremy should have taken their opportunities. It was a tough game and I’m satisfied with the result.

Thomas Tuchel: We knew that it was going to be tough today. A lot of things went against us today, which made things harder, however, the way the lads reacted was positive. We had more shots than Hoffenheim did and deserved to earn a point here today, especially when you consider the way we went about getting it.

Oliver Baumann: We had the better chances but were too open after the break, which explains why they scored seconds after Sandro hit the post. We then had chances to get a third. We really should have run today, although it’s worth remembering that Dortmund are a Champions League side and have a lot of good players. We played alright today but should have claimed all three points.

Mark Uth: We were 2-1 up at the break and had an extra man and should have won regardless of the fact we were playing Dortmund. They have some good players and equalised, but we still had chances. We want to beat Bremen on Wednesday in order to end the year on a high.

Sandro Wagner: If I’d scored instead of hitting the we’d have gone 3-1 up. It’s disappointing ultimately because we deserved more from today’s game. Despite this we’re still unbeaten and are third – there are worse situations to be in. Dortmund have a great side but we should have beaten them today.
