Defeat against FC Bayern

TSG lost their first away game of 2016, going down 2-0 against champions Bayern München thanks to goals from Robert Lewandowski either side of half time. Hoffenheim's best performance came from goalkeeper Oliver Baumann, who made several superb saves.

Line-up and tactics:

Huub Stevens made two changes to his side to face the league leaders, with Ermin Bicakcic and Andrej Kramaric replacing Fabian Schär and Kevin Volland respectively.

Kevin Baumann started in goal behind a back four of Pavel Kaderabek, Niklas Süle, Bicakcic and Jin-Su Kim. The defence was supported by Sebastian Rudy and Jiloan Hamad in defensive midfield as well as Tobias Strobl and Jonathan Schmid, who together formed a four-man midfield. Eduardo Vargas and Andrej Kramaric played up front as an attacking duo.

After the break, Steven Zuber, Nadiem Amiri and Kevin Volland came on to replace Kramaric, Hamad and Schmid, but the team's formation was not altered by the substitutions.

Moment of the match:

Andrej Kramaric shows what he's capable of in the 56th minute. The new signing does incredibly well to set himself up for the shot, but his finish goes just wide of the post with Manuel Neuer well beaten. Who knows what would have happened if his shot had been a couple of inches further to the right and levelled the game up. Unfortunately, it's a case of "what if…?".

Number of the match: 0

Unfortunately, TSG's winless run against Bayern has continued. We still have 0 wins to our name after 16 Bundesliga meetings.
