Cavin Johnson we want to give TSG a good game

TSG face Platinum Stars in a friendly on Tuesday. The team are currently fifth in the Premier Division and ahead of the match at the Royal Bafokeng stadium, achtzehn99.de caught up with manager Cavin Johnson.

Are you looking forward to the match?

Cavin Johnson: When a Bundesliga team comes to South Africa and you have the chance to play against a higher quality team, of course you look forward to it. We know that Hoffenheim aren’t in a good position at the moment, but they are a Bundesliga side. We’re excited about the match.

What are your expectations?

Johnson: Last year I saw the match between TSG and the Kaiser Chiefs. I could tell that TSG were a little tired from the training camp. Perhaps that’s also the case this year. The team come straight from the winter break to the training camp in order to regain a certain level of fitness. We’re in the middle of our season and want to give a good account of ourselves and make it as difficult as possible for Hoffenheim. I would imagine that right now we are a little fitter than them. We want to give them a good game.

How well do you know the Bundesliga?

Johnson: I always watch Bundesliga matches on TV, but most of the time only Bayern Munich’s games are shown here in South Africa. In my eyes the Bundesliga is a very strong league, there are a lot of clubs that play on a very similar level. Many players are technically very strong. For me the Bundesliga is the best league in the world.

How do you want to line up against TSG?

Johnson: We always play in a 4-2-3-1 system. That won’t change against Hoffenheim. But we obviously need to see if that will work for us tomorrow. If not, we are flexible and can adapt.
The match against Platinum Stars kicks off at 15:30 CET.
