Andreas Beck signs for Besiktas

Andreas Beck has taken on a new challenge following seven years with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. The former skipper will play in the Süper Lig next season for top Turkish club Besiktas, where he has signed a three-year-deal.

Russian-born Beck joined TSG in 2008 from VfB Stuttgart. After seven years in Hoffenheim, there was a heartfelt farewell for Beck, who served as the team’s skipper in each of the last two seasons. “It was important to me to say my goodbyes to everyone here at the club. Hoffenheim has taken up a big place in my heart and there are lots of people that I had to thank dearly. The same applies to my teammates, who I wish the best of success in the future, and obviously the fans as well. We went through highs and lows together over the past seven years and a great bond was formed. I hope that Hoffenheim will have a good season and that they achieve all of their goals.”

“Andi contributed lots to the development of this club,” said Alexander Rosen, praising Beck’s attitude both on and off the pitch. “He helped us get to where we are now – an established Bundesliga club,” continued TSG’s director of football.

“Just like Sejad Salihovic, Andreas Beck was an integral part to the rise of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim over the past few years,” explained Dietmar Hopp. He didn’t just prove himself through performances though: “His discipline, loyalty, fairness, determination and respect towards others made him an ambassador for TSG’s philosophy,” Hopp said of the right back, who also became a Germany international during his time at Hoffenheim.

Beck made 233 appearances for TSG in all competitions. He has won nine caps for Germany, while he also made 39 appearances for the DFB-Team at youth level. His contract at Hoffenheim was set to expire in 2017.
