Dortmund match reaction

We got the reactions of Markus Gisdol, Jürgen Klopp and some of the players after TSG's 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

Markus Gisdol: Sebastian Kehl's strike was the difference between the two teams today. We pushed BVB all the way. It was a shame that we couldn't hold on to the lead for longer in the second half. We had two fantastic chances to make it 3-2 and secure victory in the closing stages of normal time. We deployed two rows of three in order to pose more of an attacking threat and that worked for us the majority of the game. We're generally very pleased with our performance but are ultimately out of the competition. We need to take the positives out of the game, even though the result hurts.

Jürgen Klopp: Of course all the positive emotions came flooding out after the final whistle. The team responded brilliantly after the defeat to Bayern, losing Reus and Hummels and falling 2-1 behind. It was a very intense game. We always knew that Hoffenheim would push us to our limits. Today was great and we have set a marker for other teams and future matches.

Oliver Baumann: We played really well, especially after falling behind. We managed to come back but then so did Dortmund. We needed to take our chance and should have made it 3-2 from the counterattack in the dying stages. We kept battling all the way through extra time and then Sebastian Kehl popped up with a real wonder goal. It's a shame. We at least deserved to take it to penalties.

Kevin Volland: Getting knocked out, even by an unbelievable goal, really hurts. We had two big chances at the end of normal time, but in the end, we lost. I scored a great goal but that doesn't help us now. We played with passion today and put together some lovely passing moves, particularly in the first half.

Andreas Beck: It was a very even game and Kehl's shot was the difference between the two teams today. We had opportunities to make it 3-2. We're obviously very disappointed but can leave the stadium with our heads held high. We have to congratulate Dortmund – it was a fantastic tie. We were so close to making our first ever semi-final but unfortunately our performance wasn't enough to get us there.

Sebastian Kehl: I struck the ball really sweetly and had a bit of luck with it creeping just inside the post. The goal was very important for us as we're now in the semi-finals. Both teams put an awful lot into the game today. The match was like a final. We knew that it was going to be tight.
