Vestergaard victorious -
Elyounoussi beaten
by England

Aside from Sebastian Rudy's involvement for Germany, Norway's Tarik Elyounoussi and Jannik Vestergaard of Denmark's U21s were also in action on Wednesday night. The Hoffenheim centre back even captained his nation's youth side.

A friendly against England was on the schedule for Tarik Elyounoussi and the Norway national team. The Scandinavians wanted to use the friendly as a confidence-builder before their Euro qualifier against Italy.

“We want to enjoy the match in this unbelievable stadium and have a positive start to the Euro qualifiers,” said Elyounoussi before the match. It very nearly worked out for him.

However, after 90 minutes, the team had to settle for a 1-0 defeat. Wayne Rooney scored from the penalty spot in the 68th minute. The TSG forward played 78 minutes, before being replaced by Ola Kamara.

Vestergaard was on the pitch for the full 90 minutes in Denmark's 4-2 victory against Russia. He scored through a header in the 56th minute to make it 3-1.

The Danes have now secured their place in the play-off stage for Euro 2015 in the Czech Republic. Their opponents will be drawn on 12th September in Nyon.
