Hertha BSC match reaction

Here are the thoughts of Markus Gisdol, Hertha boss Jos Luhukay and Hoffenheim players following TSG's 5-0 victory away to Hertha BSC

Markus Gisdol:The team were in a very good physical condition today. That was the decisive factor in my opinion. We've made this a very good first half of the season today. We took 52 points in the calendar year of 2014 – that's a fantastic achievement. That tally is 26 for the first half of the campaign – we'll now sit back and enjoy that. I'm not concerned about what's possible in the second half of the season. We have to put in a good performance week after week.

Jos Luhukay:We gave them a helping hand for almost every goal today. That was the decisive factor. We have to take responsibility for that. You can give the first penalty but not the second. It was then always going to be tough after the third, especially against a side like Hoffenheim. The result is hard to cope with and we won't be too happy over Christmas. We'll draw the right conclusions come January.

Sven Schipplock: Markus Gisdol set us up really well for a feisty game. We applied ourselves well and scored the goals at the right times. We've had a great first half of the season – it feels good. We'll now relax over the festive period and dig in for the second half of the campaign.

Andreas Beck: I think that we deserved to win by so many today. It was an extremely impressive display. Hertha had played well of late so we were wary. Schulz tripped me and I went down. I'm not sure whether it was a penalty or not – the referee decides that. 23 points would have been alright for a first half of the season haul but now it's 26. That's eight more than last term. We're over the moon.

Sejad Salihovic:It was the perfect afternoon. We wanted to take three points here and a 5-0 win is of course pretty good. We got stuck in from the off and galvanised our strength one more time. That was decisive. This is how you'd like to go into the winter break of course.

Kevin Volland: We're of course very happy with the result. It was a great way to sign off for the winter break and we truly deserved the victory. I don't think Hertha had any real chances. We kept on the front foot throughout the 90 minute despite taking an early lead. It was nasty at times but always fair. Hertha therefore won't be happy. We'll travel back home with a win.

Ermin Bicakcic: We wanted to throw our hat into the ring one more time and give it our all for the last 90 minutes of this year. We wanted to let our performance do the talking – and we did just that. It's a great way to sign off the year. We're obviously delighted as defenders to have kept a clean sheet too. We'll now regain our energy over the winter break.
