Wolfsburg match reaction

Here is the match reaction after Hoffenheim's 6-2 win against Wolfsburg:

Markus Gisdol: It's unusual for us to beat such a good opponent the way we did. In the first half we played a near perfect pressing game, which forced Wolfsburg to lose the ball again and again. It's a pleasure to see the panache we've developed in our game. We performed really well today. Now we have 29 points from 23 games – that's good, but we won't get handed anything in the next few games.

Dieter Hecking: Things can go that quickly sometimes. Two weeks ago, we celebrated a win in the cup here and now we've deservedly ended up on the wrong end of a hiding. We misplaced too many passes – If I'm wearing a white kit, I've got to pass to someone in a white kit! We gifted them their third and fourth goal. After that, there's no point in coming back out. I don't want to take away from Hoffenheim's performance, but it was a day to forget for us.

Anthony Modeste: We put into play what the manager told us to. We started well in attack and forced Wolfsburg to turn the ball over. That worked well today. One of the strengths of this team is that the attacking players can move into different positions and therefore create chances. That's not the most important thing though. What's important is that we, as a team, work well together, work hard against the ball and turn defence into attack quickly. We did that well today too, but we will continue to keep working to improve that even further.

Eugen Polanski: We knew we could get a result today, even against a strong opponent like Wolfsburg. Maybe we were helped by the fact that we had played each other in the cup and lost. That's how we knew we had to make some changes. There is no such thing as the perfect game but we are trying to get as close to it as possible. The first 20 minutes after the break weren't that good, but apart from that, we put into practice what we wanted to.

Kevin Volland: We played well today, were clinical and worked hard for the whole 90 minutes. It's not easy to play against a team with such high individual quality. Of course, the risky way we play football means there will be gaps and chances for our opponents. As a result, it's important for us to continue to attack even after conceding. We sent out a message today. In this league, everything is possible, so it's important we seize on this momentum and continue to focus on playing our game.

Alexander Rosen: The period between the second and fourth goal, the lads really put in an impressive performance. We were aggressive against the ball and allowed the opposition hardly any time. If you consider this performance has come against a top-five side, it's even more impressive. We have now gone five games undefeated, including three consecutive home wins. It's clear that we're more stable and that gives us confidence.
