Arrival in Spain – Sweating right from the start

On Monday afternoon, the TSG team and staff arrived in Murcia after a two-hour flight from Baden Baden. From there, the team travelled on to San Pedro del Pinatar, where they will prepare physically, technically and tactically for the second half of the Bundesliga season under the guidance of manager Markus Gisdol. Hoffenheim will be in the mild, south-east of Spain until January 13th.

Having checked in and eaten lunch together, the players had some time to rest before the first session began at 16:00 CET. After a two-week break, a flight and a bus journey, the first priority was to loosen their muscles.

As a result, more time was spent stretching and running than normal. On the two perfectly prepared pitches of the modern training centre of the “Pinatar Arena”, TSG Hoffenheim were hosted by perfect temperatures and facilities to prepare for their remaining 17 league games and their German Cup quarterfinal.

Two sessions on Tuesday

Everyone aside from Vincenzo Grifo, who is most likely to go on loan, was at Markus Gisdol's disposal for the training camp. The schedule includes a number of exercises, including positioning in tight areas, before an eleven-against-eleven game on a full pitch.

New signing Jiloan Hamad trained with his teammates for the first time on Monday. “I am happy that we are getting started. I've got to work hard so I can get used to the tempo and the situation as quickly as possible,” said the Swede after the end of his first exercise with his new teammates.

On Tuesday, the manager and the team turn up the heat with two sessions. There are still 18 days to go until they face Nürnberg on January 25th to start the second half of the season.
