Braunschweig match reaction

Here is the match reaction after Hoffenheim's 1-0 defeat to Eintracht Braunschweig:

Markus Gisdol:We were ready for a real battle today and that's what it was, particularly in the first half. As a team we did well in that fight, but our style of play was missing a bit today. There are moments that decide games and today that was the penalty. It's difficult to accept this defeat but congratulations to Braunschweig.

Eugen Polanski:We didn't play well. We didn't press enough in their half and didn't win enough of the ball back. The result is disappointing because we didn't finish the year the way we wanted to.

Andreas Beck:It was a fiery game, and Braunschweig were certainly the better side in the first half. In the second, we were better and created our own chances. If we had won today, it would have been a good first half of the season, but then again the way we've represented ourselves this season has been good. That gives me plenty of encouragement for 2014.

Sven Schipplock:It's annoying to lose today. We wanted to go into the winter break with a positive result. We knew that it would be a tough game today, and we didn't really get to grips with that well in the first half. After the break, it was difficult to break down Braunschweig's wall. We had two or three good chances but we just weren't as strong in attack as we have been recently.

Torsten Lieberknecht:The first half was probably our best of the season so far. All of the players were convinced they could win today. The year has been full of highs and lows and we've finished it well. My team continues to develop.

Mirko Boland:After four defeats in a row, the win was really important for us today. Our fans were once again superb, and that helped us on the pitch of course. The desire to win was pivotal today. It was important that we took the lead too.
