Niklas Süle extends contract until 2017

Süle arrived at TSG as a 14-year-old and developed in the club's academy. In 2013, manager Markus Gisdol called the then 17-year-old into the first team and the defender went on to make four appearances by the end of the season (including the relegation play-offs). In the current season, Süle has made six appearances, four of which have come in the starting eleven.

Alexander Rosen, director of football at the club: "Niklas has developed well and made big steps in the last few months. This contract extension represents that good work and is a positive for both sides. His career is an example of the excellent work in our youth system and we are delighted that Niklas has extended with us.”

Youngest goalscorer in a competitive game

Niklas Süle: “I'm delighted by the faith the club has put in me. I'm especially thankful to Markus Gisdol and Alexander Rosen. I will do all I can to keep improving and become a more stable and important part of the team and the club as a whole.”

Süle scored his first goal for Hoffenheim in the second round of the German Cup against Energie Cottbus, becoming TSG's youngest goalscorer in a competitive game at the age of 18 years and 21 days. The centre back also has this club record in the Bundesliga following his goal against Bayern Munich (2-1 defeat) on matchday 11 this season. At that time, Süle was just 18 years and 60 days old.
