Hertha match reaction

Here is the match reaction after Hoffenheim's 3-2 defeat to Hertha BSC.

Markus Gisdol: In the first half we didn't manage to do what we wanted to do. We didn't start well. As much as Hertha did, we lacked variation in attack. We were much better in the second half. The penalty decision against us was a bitter pill to swallow because it just wasn't one. Despite that we came back and made it 2-2. The goal we conceded after that was too easy. On our first half performance alone, we wouldn't have really deserved more than a point.

Jos Luhukay: I'm delighted. We've been close a couple of times away from home this season but today we finally managed it. I'm so proud of my players. It was an exciting and thrilling game for the fans. After our second goal, we didn't position ourselves well and after the equaliser it could have gone either way but we are the happy winners.

Andreas Beck: The whole game was very disjointed. They had a good answer to our game plan. They defended well and denied us space. Hertha also countered well and took us away from our style of play. At the break, we got ourselves together and played better in the second half. It still wasn't a good game today and we have to learn from it.

Sejad Salihovic: We've got to stop making mistakes. It's really frustrating to have lost the game today. We knew it would be a really difficult game but we didn't go into the challenges the right way and we made mistakes. We were much better in the second half but it wasn't enough. This is unacceptable. We cannot lose this game at home.

Tobias Strobl: We didn't get into the game right from the start. Hertha played well against us. In the second half we were better and scored a quick goal and then an equaliser. It was important for our moral that we battled back again. Then we conceded another goal just as quickly. We've got to defend better.

Niklas Süle: We couldn't show what we were capable of in the first half. Hertha made it difficult for us and set up really well against us. After the break, things went a little better for us. We won more of the second balls but didn't create enough chances. It just wasn't enough today.

Fabian Lustenberger: I am really happy that we were rewarded for our efforts today. We let hardly anything through, something we've been doing over the last few weeks. That's just our strength. We are solid at the back and that means we can focus on our attack. We did that well today.
