Good test - TSG draw with FSV Frankfurt in friendly

A quickly arranged friendly between TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and FSV Frankfurt ended in a 1-1 draw. “It was a good test that allowed us to give minutes to the players that don't usually get much playing time,” said visiting manager Benno Möhlmann following the game in the Dietmar-Hopp-Stadion. It was an entertaining match, in which both sides attacked the ball leading to some good battles. However, there weren't a great deal of concrete chances.

Hoffenheim were the slightly dominant team in the first 45 minutes, though the visitors came back after the break, making it very much an even contest. One of the game's few chances was converted by TSG player Bruno Nazario to put Hoffenheim 1-0 in front in the first half hour. Sven Schipplock did well to create the chance, which the Brazilian tucked away from 12 yards.

“Schippo” was also involved in one of the more dangerous moments of the second half, with his zipping strike just clearing the bar. Hoffenheim kept their lead intact until just before the end of the game. Frankfurt substitute Markus Ziereis was played in from the left-hand side and made the most of practically the visitors' only goalscoring opportunity to grab the equaliser in the 86th minute.

Two players reunited

There was something else special on the day for Frankfurt's Ziereis besides his goal, as he also caught up with TSG forward Kevin Volland. Both were once players in the 1860 Munich youth setup and shared a flat for two years. “We're the best of friends and meet up when we can,” explained Volland.
