VfL Wolfsburg match reaction

Here is the match reaction after the 2-1 defeat to VfL Wolfsburg:

Markus Gisdol: If I'm honest, the frustration and disappointment is really high today. We played well for the first 35 minutes and could have been ahead by two or three more goals. But we forgot to score that goal and then later to defend it. We were very passive in one-on-one situations and didn't put any pressure on our opponents. We have to deal with this kind of disappointment head on. We didn't do that in the game. Instead, we gifted our opponents a goal after the break. It's frustrating to be stood here empty handed, especially when we felt we deserved a draw.

Dieter Hecking: Hoffenheim benefited from our poor play in the opening 35 minutes. If we had been behind by more, it would have been tricky. But the team got stuck in and scored the equaliser just before the break. At half time, I said to the team that the score was back at 0-0 and that we needed to attack. And that's how we played in the second half, which is why, from my point of view, we deservedly won today. We lacked a bit of pace but I'm still happy to have turned the game around.

Andreas Beck:We got into the game well but lost our way after the first half an hour. We dealt with conceding an early second-half goal well, but couldn't turn the game around after that.

Jannik Vestergaard:The way we battled today was good, but we had imagined more in terms of footballing quality. Above all, the way in which conceded today was unnecessary.

Kevin Volland:We let them use the ball too much today and let them play too many long balls too. Wolfsburg were just stronger than us. We didn't apply enough pressure. We've got to show our faces against Cottbus and pick up some momentum.
