VfB Stuttgart match reaction

Here is the match reaction following TSG's 6-2 defeat to VfB Stuttgart.

Markus Gisdol: We were looking to be aggressive early on. That didn't happen and we weren't in the game at the start. We made naà¯ve mistakes, especially for their first two goals. When we made it 2-1, you got the feeling that we were back in the game. We had a plan in the second half but we simply gifted goals to our opponents. It was a waste of a day for us, but we will learn from our mistakes. Nevertheless, we've had a decent start to the season.

Andreas Beck: We didn't quite plan for things to work out that way, but sometimes you have days like that. We performed poorly in every department. VfB clinically made the most of that.

Koen Casteels: I can't say a lot about our performance. We were already 2-0 down after 20 minutes but you can still come back from that and turn the game around. The whole team was poor though and we couldn't put our plan into practice. You can't forget that we're on the right path though. We have to analyse the match and work out where we went wrong and then we can learn from our mistakes.

Sven Schipplock: It's difficult to say what the problem was today. The manager said that aggressive pressing against the ball would be the key to success, but we didn't do that. Then we fell asleep and conceded straightaway. There were too many individual mistakes today.

Thomas Schneider: We played as a unit, stuck together and were very compact when they had the ball. There were a lot of good moments for us. There's still a big gap to the teams above us but I'm happy about today. We wanted to show a reaction and the lads did that very well.

Vedad Ibisevic: It was great fun today. We wanted to really go for it. It was a fantastic reaction from the last few weeks.

Antonio Rüdiger: I'm happy with my first Bundesliga goal and our win, which was fully deserved. We finally went in front today. That was important so that we could play more freely afterwards.
