1. FC Nürnberg match reaction

Here is the match reaction after TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's 2-2 draw with 1. FC Nürnberg.

Markus Gisdol: “We played really well in the first half. I saw a lot of really good things. We should have rewarded ourselves for that effort. I don't need to say anything about the second goal that was never given. It was in. But I can't change that now. We found ourselves again after their equaliser. It's a shame that we didn't win the game. Maybe we were a little unlucky that we didn't finish the game off earlier. We will most definitely learn from it.”

Michael Wiesinger: “After 90 intensive minutes, this is an important point won for us. We were very lucky to only be one goal down at the break. After their second goal though, we battled back really well and, from my point of view, deserved a point. Hoffenheim were as strong as we expected them to be.”

Tarik Elyounoussi: “Drawing the game after the way it played out has left me a little disappointed. It was thrilling to step onto the pitch in the Bundesliga for the first time. We played really well before the break and created a number of chances during the game. We can build on that in the games ahead.”

Kevin Volland: “I didn't see whether the ball had crossed the line or not. But both Alexander Esswein and Raphael Schäfer said to me afterwards that the ball had gone over the line. After the game, I saw it myself. It's difficult for the referee because the ball popped out straight afterwards. It's a shame for us, but we had a number of chances to win the game. For both of the goals we conceded, we just weren't in the right place and in the Bundesliga, that is always going to be punished straight away. As a starting point, this game is really important.”

Daniel Ginczek: “It was a good start to the season for both me and the whole team. We showed a lot of character to come from two goals down. We even had the chance to win. At half time we saw that Volland's goal was in as well. That's why we are happy with the 2-2 draw.”

Thorsten Kinhöfer: “During the game, my first thought was that the ball hadn't crossed the line. We realised that it had during the break. Mistakes do happen. The fact this mistake happened to us today is very frustrating.”
