Robin Szarka signs professional contract with TSG

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim will have Robin Szarka in their ranks for two more years after the defender signed a professional contract with the club that runs until 2015. Born in Mannheim, Szarka joined Hoffenheim's youth academy in 2007 and has played in the U23s this season before making his Bundesliga debut in the dramatic 2-1 win at Dortmund last weekend.

Szarka moved to the Kraichgau from VfL Neckarau almost six years ago and won the league with the U17s in 2008. The German Cup followed with the U19s in 2010. Manager Markus Gisdol called him into his squad for the first time in April for Hoffenheim's trip to Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

Alexander Rosen, head of professional football at TSG: “Robin has been with us in the B team and has constantly developed over the last few years. The extension of his contract is the next logical step and is another demonstration of our future direction at the club.”

Robin Szarka on his new professional contract: “I'll work hard to justify the club's show of faith in me. It gives me a big chance to prove myself and I want to take it.”
