HSV match reaction

Markus Gisdol: Hamburg were brutally effective today but I can't blame any of my players. They tried everything, showed great morale after conceding and had a few good moments but the ball just didn't want to go in. You have days like these but it doesn't lead us away from our path. The final matchday always has a certain character about it. We'll do all we can in Dortmund and see what comes out of it. The important thing is that we perform as a team. If we do that, anything is possible.

Kevin Volland: We were really up for the game but we didn't start very well. We conceded two goals in the first half and only created a few chances that we couldn't make the most of. We were much better in the second half; we got stuck in and battled hard but it just wasn't enough. The other results have given us hope. We will fight until the last minute. We have to start preparing now, work hard and believe in ourselves.

Andreas Beck: I think the result is fair enough. HSV were good and we struggled to deal with them. You have to play differently when you go behind. I don't know why it didn't work for us today, but we were all really motivated. Who knows, maybe we can do it in Dortmund. We have to believe we can.

Tobias Weis: It hurts to lose by that amount. We wanted to put HSV under pressure at the start but we didn't and instead we conceded two goals. We were pushing to make it 2-1 in the second half but ended up 3-0 down. Maybe it's all in the head. At the end of the day, we weren't good enough in the first half and HSV were clinical. They played well. We have to give 110 percent again. We didn't play beyond our limits today – that can't be the case in Dortmund.

Sven Schipplock: The match started fairly even but then we conceded two goals. Their third goal after the break killed us off. We definitely have the most difficult task of all the relegation-threatened sides but we have to give it our all once more and fight until the end.

Thorsten Fink: Things went to plan. We knew that Hoffenheim had to come at us so we wanted to stand tough and counter them. Hoffenheim gave it their all but it wasn't enough because we remained concentrated and disciplined. I wish Hoffenheim all the best in Dortmund. They're a likeable team. I've definitely seen some crazy things happen on the final matchday before.
