Casteels captains Belgium U21s to victory

As captain of the Belgium U21 side, Koen Casteels led his team in their European U21 Championship qualifier in Leuven to victory against Cyprus. Jannik Vestergaard also had reason to celebrate with the Danish U21 team and Michael Gregoritsch had to learn the hard way with Austria's U21s.

A 2-0 victory for Belgium's U21s was brought about by Casteels' safety in defence, with Paul-José Mpoku in the third minute, and Maxime Lestienne in the 53rd minute, scoring the goals.

Jannik Vestergaard's trip with the Denmark U21 side had a positive ending. The Hoffenheim defender celebrated a 2-0 win against Norway in a prestigious fixture, playing the entire game. It was a much needed result after suffering a 3-1 defeat to France on Thursday.

Austria's U21 team could find no solace in a friendly against England as they fell to a 4-0 defeat. The Hoffenheim striker was brought on in the 46th minute in Brighton with his side already 1-0 down but he couldn't turn the tide. Gregoritsch returns to Kraichgau with an even set of results having won 1-0 against Slovakia in a friendly on Thursday.
