Strobl joins 1. FC Köln on loan

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim midfielder Tobias Strobl has agreed to join 1. FC Köln on a season-long loan deal. His contract in Sinsheim runs until June 2014.

Köln will play in the 2. Bundesliga season after being relegated this year, but Strobl was extremely happy with the arrangement. “Köln are one of the biggest names in German football. I will do my best to settle in well here and improve myself as a player”, said the 22-year-old. For Hoffenheim head coach Markus Babbel it was also a good decision to allow to player to move on loan. “Tobias has shown that he is good enough to play professionally. Now the key for him is to be playing regularly and a loan move is the right thing at this time.”

Strobl, who was born in Munich, ascended to the 1899 first team squad during the winter break and made his Bundesliga debut in February in the 1-1 draw away at Werder Bremen. His only other first team appearance was in a German Cup quarter-final match against SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
