Reaction to the match against Leverkusen

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim succumbed to a narrow 1-0 loss at home to Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Read here what the managers and players of the respective sides had to say about the result.

Markus Babbel: “It's a very disappointing defeat for us. My players delivered a really good performance. They were disciplined, competitive and created chances. But we probably could have played until this evening and still not scored. We gave a good account of ourselves against a strong Leverkusen team, but just missed that little bit of luck.”

Sascha Lewandowski (Bayer Leverkusen Assistant Manager): We fought well for the win, but we were perhaps slightly fortunate. In the first half we weren't as strong defensively as we would have liked and in attack we didn't quite execute our gameplan. But we're very pleased with the win and it helps us in our aim to qualify for the Europa League.

Andreas Beck: We played well overall, but our final pass was lacking today. Leverkusen didn't have many chances but they were clinical when their opportunity came.

Tobias Weis: We were better than them, especially in the second half, and we had some good chances that unfortunately we didn't take. We couldn't find the right pass in the final third of the pitch, and they ended up winning it with a brilliant goal.

Sejad Salihovic: It's a very bitter defeat. All in all it was a good performance from us, but I'm disappointed for the players that I missed the penalty.
