National team: TSG trio in U21 squad against Switzerland

This weekend, when the Bundesliga takes a break for international fixtures, ten TSG players will be involved. There are some great games ahead in both the 2014 World Cup qualifiers and the U21 European Championships next year. For all those TSG players not leaving on international duty, there is a friendly game on Friday 16th October at 18.00 CET against SV Darmstadt 98.

Germany's U21 side will face Switzerland on Friday at 18.00 CET in Leverkusen in the first leg of the European Championship play-off. Sebastian Rudy, Stefan Thesker and Kevin Volland are all involved. The second leg in Lucerne will be played on 16th October at 17.30 CET.

WC 2014 Qualification

Sejad Salihovic will put his boots on for Bosnia and Herzegovina in their WC qualifier against Greece on Friday at 21.45 CET. The second game against Lithuania is set to take place four days later at 20.00 CET in Zenica. Although Fabian Johnson is set to stay in Germany due to illness, Daniel Williams is in the USA squad. On October 12th the USA travel to Antigua and Barbuda and four days later they have a home game against Guatemala in Kansas City. Switzerland are another team who want to be competing at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Eren Derdiyok will be representing them in their game against Norway in Bern at 20.30 CET on Friday, as well as against Iceland on Tuesday at 18.30 CET. Sandro Wieser will be representing Liechtenstein in their games against Lithuania at 19.30 on Friday in Vaduz and then on Tuesday at 20.00 CET against Latvia. Stephan Schröck will not join the Philippine international side.

U21 European Championship playoffs

Alongside the German U21 team, there are also other teams with TSG players involved, all of whom are looking to achieve their goal of reaching the U21 European Championships in Israel. Jannik Vestergaard is part of the Denmark squad that faces Spain in the play-offs, with the first leg due to take place on Thursday at 20.45 CET in Burgos. The second leg will be played in Aalborg on the following Tuesday at 18.30 CET. Filip Malbasic and the Serbian U21 team head to England, where their first game will be played on Friday at 19.00 CET in Norwich. Four days later, the two teams will face each other again in Krusevac at 18.00 CET.

Friendly game for Casteels

TSG's goalkeeper Koen Casteels will also be involved for his country during the international week as he represents Belgium's U21 team in their friendly against Greece, and Johan Walem's side is set to face Israel two days later.
