Match reaction

After the 2-1 away defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga opener, the Hoffenheim manager and some of his players gave their views on the match:

Markus Babbel: I have to split the game into two halves. On the one side there was a bitter result for us, but on the other, we represented ourselves very well today. We defended strongly, kept things tight and remained disciplined. In the first half, we paid more attention to our stability, and in the second half, we were bolder and worked some chances. Unfortunately, it only resulted in one goal and we conceded two.

Tim Wiese: I think we deserved a point today. We showed a good reaction after last week's game. We started playing proper football in the second half. The decisive free kick was difficult to defend. Well done to the goal scorers, but overall we have to play better next week.

Kevin Volland: We played well for 90 minutes and fought hard. We reacted well after the match in Berlin and played better in the second half. We have to build on this so that we are successful in the first home game. Overall though, we were more involved in the game.
