Lactate test for TSG players - first act for Chris

TSG began the final phase of their pre-season on Thursday, with a lactate test in the Helmut Gmelin Stadium. The fifth Bundesliga season for the side begins on August 25th. It was the first time manager Markus Babbel had involved new signing Chris in the preparations.

The players had three days to recover after returning from the training camp in Feldkirchen. While his teammates had the chance to enjoy themselves, Hoffenheim's newest signing Chris did some intensive training with fitness coach Yannick Obenauer. Although he has continued to train following his departure from Wolfsburg, the Brazilian still has a bit of catching up to do with his teammates. “Physically, I feel good. The last few days have been hard, but they've helped me further develop,” said Chris. The defensive all-rounder only managed eight appearances last season with Magath's Wolfsburg, after suffering from a back injury. “The injury is behind me now. I have been able to take part in everything without any problems,” added the Brazilian.

The competition in defensive midfield and central defence is tough. Along with Chris, seven other TSG players are hoping to claim a place in the starting eleven. But Chris doesn't fear the competition, and wants to establish himself in the Hoffenheim squad. “I want to take my chance here. It's down to me as to whether I play.” His first chance comes around at 3pm on August 5th, as TSG are set to take on Spanish La Liga side Betis Sevilla, as part of their fan and family day.
