Germany U21s qualify for European Championships

A few days before TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's eighth Bundesliga game against SpVgg Greuther Fürth, a few of the TSG squad were involved in the set of international fixtures. The biggest news came after Germany's U21 team secured qualification for next year's European Championships in Israel with a 3-1 win over Switzerland.

2014 WC Qualification

Sejad Salihovic faced Lithuania in Bosnia and Herzegovina's home World Cup qualifier. ‘Sali' secured a 3-0 win, playing the full 90 minutes. Sandro Wieser was also involved in World Cup qualification with Liechtenstein in Latvia. Wieser also played the entire game but couldn't prevent his side from losing 2-0. Daniel Williams was involved in the USA team's 3-1 victory over Guatemala in Kansas City. The victory, one that Williams played all of, gives the US lads the upper hand in their group.

U21 European Championship play-off

Rainer Adrion's team were 3-1 victors in an engaging second leg European Championship play-off against Switzerland on Tuesday evening. TSG's Sebastian Rudy, Stefan Thesker and Kevin Volland were all in the squad. While Rudy and Thesker played the entire game, Volland, who was brought on in the first leg, didn't play this time around. After the victory, the squad donned Boris Vukcevic's jersey to show their battle for victory had been for him. Filip Malbasic was brought on in the 59th minute for Serbia's U21 side in their second leg against England. Just as they did in the first leg though, Serbia lost 1-0. The same could be said for Jannik Vestergaard and the Denmark U21s. A 3-1 defeat to Spain meant Denmark missed the chance to compete in Israel next year. Vestergaard did not play.

Friendlies with Hoffenheim representatives

On Monday, Michael Gregoritsch started the second set of international fixtures with the Austrian U21 team in a friendly against Hungary. Gregoritsch was substituted off in the 64th minute but not before he had scored the deciding second and third goals for Austria in their 3-1 win. Koen Casteels did not play in Belgium's U21 4-1 defeat to Israel.
