Confidence restored – TSG's players enjoy success in WC-Qualifiers

On Tuesday night, the last set of this week's international fixtures took place. Four TSG players took to the field in the qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

A few days after their 2-1 defeat to Jamaica, the USA lads, Daniel Williams and Fabian Johnson, had the chance to make good. On home soil in Columbus (Ohio), Jürgen Klinsmann's side achieved just that, securing a 1-0 win over the Jamaicans. Both TSG players played the entire game. The USA are level with Guatemala and Jamaica on seven points in Group A. The top two sides in the group qualify for the 2013 final round (six teams in total).

Eren Derdiyok had another successful outing for Switzerland as they won 2-0 against Albania. He too played the entire game. Switzerland have achieved a perfect start to their 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign. Having picked up maximum points, they already have a three point advantage over group competitors Norway, Cyprus and Albania, who are all equal on points.

Last but not least was Sejad Salihovic, who had great reason to be happy. ‘Sali' and the strong looking Bosnia national side beat Latvia 4-1. The Bosnians lead Group G alongside Greece, who are level on points.

Stephan Schröck played another friendly for the Philippines national side in a 2-1 defeat in Laos.
