TSG Hoffenheim 1899 1-2 SV Werder Bremen: Match Reactions

Werder Bremen is surely not one of Hoffenheim's most favourite opponents. Despite taking a 1-0 lead, the team of Holger Stanislawski were unable to secure any points. This is what the players, coaches and officials had to say about the game:

Holger Stanislawski: Congratulations to Bremen for this victory. We made a lot of mistakes in the second half, something we managed to avoid in the first. Against a team like Bremen, these mistakes are costly. We still lack clinical execution when we create a decent chance. But in the end it is our own fault that we lost today.

Thomas Schaaf: We worked hard in the pre-season and we have taken another step forward. The team is heading into the right direction.

Fabian Johnson: We had a great start to the game and deserved to take the lead. But in the second half we were a bit too passive.

Marvin Compper: We take an absolutely deserved lead and completely control the game. The first Bremen goal was a gift, the second a deflected volley. We allowed Bremen back into this game.

Marko Arnautovic: The coach rewarded me with a place in the starting line-up thanks to my good training performances. I hope that I can continue helping the team and that we are successful.

Klaus Allofs: We know that we can still play better. Especially at the start of the game we had a lot of problems with Hoffenheim. It was a difficult game and therefore we are happy that we won. It was an attractive football game for the fans, despite not that many goals. Both teams tried to play up the pitch. In the end, we are very happy with these three points.
