Marvin Compper talks about…

Last Saturday saw 1899 Hoffenheim put in their worst performance of the season against struggling Borussia Mönchengladbach. achtzehn99.de caught up with Marvin Compper to get his thoughts on the match with Gladbach, the mood within the squad and their upcoming opponents Borussia Dortmund.

Marvin Compper talks about...

...the match in Mönchengladbach

"The match in Gladbach was comfortably our worst match this season, but since then we've sat down and analysed what went wrong and have worked hard in training to correct our mistakes. Now we need to do the same on the pitch and show a different side to ourselves against Dortmund."

...the mood within the squad

"Naturally the mood in the squad wasn't great after our performance in Gladbach. We held intensive discussions without beating around the bush to address the problems we had. I'm confident it will be a completely different Hoffenheim team that steps onto the pitch on Saturday."

...the hierarchy within the squad following the departures of Luiz Gustavo and Demba Ba

"Losing Luiz and Demba definitely wasn't easy for the team, but the new signings have stepped up to the mark and filled in the void as best they can so far. Of course it has meant that other players have had to take some of the responsibility within the team, but it's going to take time for the whole squad to adjust to the changes that have taken place."

...the rest of the season

"I don't think that 33-points can guarantee us safety and so we've got to try and reach that 40-point mark as soon as possible so that we can breathe freely towards to the latter stages of the season."

...the next opponents, Borussia Dortmund

"Dortmund have been enjoying an outstanding season so far and I'm pretty sure they'll be the champions come the end season. However, we're determined to throw a spanner in the works somewhat and hold onto the three points at home. We'll have to push ourselves to the limit in order to achieve that though."

...the match against Dortmund on Matchday 9

"In my opinion we played really well and most importantly we adopted a disciplined approach. To concede in time added on was hard to accept, but we still left the pitch with our heads held high."

...Dortmund's attacking style

"Dortmund will put us under a lot of pressure and try and get the ball forward as fast as possible. We have to keep our concentration at the back and try to trouble them in their own half whilst creating chances for ourselves. Then we've got a chance of causing an upset against the league leaders."
