FC Schalke 04 3-1 1899 Hoffenheim - match reaction

Hoffenheim were on the end of a 3-1 loss away at FC Schalke 04 today. Find out here what the managers and players of both sides had to say about the game.

Holger Stanislawski: “We should congratulate Schalke for a deserved win. I'm disappointed with how we played today, and I didn't expect us to lose our concentration so often, or misplace as many passes as we did. I'll be showing the boys the whole game again, so we can see what went wrong. Our problem right now is consistency. We didn't deserve anything from the game today.”

Huub Stevens: “I'm delighted that we took three points today. Hoffenheim pressed us all the way, but I think we played clever football at times and didn't give too much away. It's a big compliment to the boys that they've been able to maintain their level of performance in the last few weeks, especially after so many matches.”

Marvin Compper: “We gave away too many chances to day, and we probably should have conceded more than three goals. I'm disappointed with the penalty decision, though. I did have my hands up, but that was just to protect both of us from colliding. He felt the contact and just went down.”

Daniel Williams: “I think we deserved to lose. We played well at the start of the second half, but we didn't stick to our task and ended up conceding two quick goals, after scoring the equaliser. The penalty was a poor decision as well. He fell down very theatrically. But we played poorly today, and they deserve the three points.”

Tom Starke: “We made too many individual errors today. Their first goal was debatable, because he handled the ball. I told the referee, but he said he didn't see it. Apparently Raul denied hand-balling it. There isn't much more to say, really.”

Raul: “We played well today against a good Hoffenheim team. I think my goal was legitimate. It did touch my hand, but I don't think it altered the direction of the ball, and it wasn't intentional.”
