Compper a doubt for rest of the year

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim will have to do without Marvin Compper for the rest of this calendar year.

The defender was shown a straight red card by referee Dr. Jochen Drees in the closing minutes of Hoffenheim's 2-0 win away at 1. FC Nürnberg on Saturday. He was judged to have been the last man when he brought down striker Tomas Pekhart as he was in on goal. He receives a one-match ban and will now miss the club's next league game at home to Hertha Berlin.

Unfortunately for Compper, he also did himself a minor injury when committing the challenge. Tests revealed minor ligament damage in his right knee, meaning he may also miss the German Cup last 16 tie with FC Augsburg at the WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar-Arena on December 20th, for which he would have been available for a recall after serving his suspension.
