1899 Hoffenheim and Ralf Rangnick part company with immediate effect

Manager Ralf Rangnick and the board members at 1899 Hoffenheim have come to a mutual agreement and decided to part ways with immediate effect.

After several intense meetings both parties came to the same understanding that it was time to bring Rangnick's successful era at the club to an end. With the Kraichgau based club looking onwards and upwards to the future, with potential European aspirations, it was decided that a change at the helm would be beneficial for the club. Having given the club a solid foundation to build on, Rangnick's work will not be forgotten as assistant manager Marco Pezzaiuoli will look to build on his good work.

Here's what he had to say regarding the decision to let him go:

"Following an intense discussion with Dietmar Hopp, Ernst Tanner and Jochen A. Rotthaus we all came to an agreement that it was best to bring my successful reign at this club to an end.
I always had the feeling that I was the perfect manager for this club and have enjoyed my time here immensely. However, Hoffenheim have continued to grow over the past few years and has subsequently outgrown me. I can still remember the very first press conference I took in the old Dietmar-Hopp Stadium. Since then it's been a continuous upwards curve and have only been in the relegation zone during 4 Matchdays.

I wish Marco Pezzaiuoli and the whole team all the best. Of course I'm going to continue being one of the biggest 1899 fans, whether it's as a spectator or in front of the television."

Peter Zeidler has also been let go with immediate effect.
