Tobias Weis commits for a further two years

Tobias Weis today committed his future to 1899 Hoffenheim after signing a new contract extension at the club. The 24-year old, whose contract was due to run out at the end of the season, has extended his stay at 1899 Hoffenheim for a further two years until June 2012 with the option of a third year available.

"Tobias has proven that his style of play is well suited to 1899 Hoffenheim. Having recovered from his injury earlier in the season, he has underlined what a valuable asset he is to our team. I'm pleased that we have the opportunity to continue working together until the end of the season," stated manager Jan Schindelmeiser. Tobias Weis was similarly delighted: "I count myself very lucky to be able to continue playing for 1899 Hoffenheim. The opportunities to develop my game at Hoffenheim are incredible. I'm excited about my the years I have ahead of me at 1899."

Weis arrived in July 2007 having previously been part of the VfB Stuttgart second string and has since played 55 times for Hoffenheim, scoring one goal. In November 2008, Weis was picked for the German national squad for the first time but failed to make an appearance off the bench against England. In June 2009 Weis celebrated his debut for the national side when he was introduced as 66th minute substitute against the United Arab Emirates.
