Successful operation for Obasi

Chinedu Obasi had travelled to Munich earlier this week to have an operation on his fractured shinbone. achtzehn99.de can report that the operation was a success and the Nigerian international can now concentrate on getting himself back to full fitness during the winter break.

After tests revealed that the 24-year old had re-aggravated the injury that he sustained during the World Cup, an operation seemed to be the best course of action. During the one-hour procedure specialist Dr. Ludwig Seebauer scrapped the original idea of inserting a metal plate and instead used a nail as a way to stabilise the stress fracture. The fracture itself was also repaired during the procedure.

"There were no complications during the operation," assured Hoffenheim's team doctor Dr. Henning Ott, who travelled to Munich with the player to be there during the operation. "Over the next few days Edu should be ready to start the initial stages of his recovery", explained Ott. Providing his recovery runs without any problems Obasi should be back with the Hoffenheim team in about three months time.
