Leogang day 1: Hoffenheim move into their training complex

Bundesliga team 1899 Hoffenheim are at their training base in the Austrian town of Leogang. The 1899 baggage landed, as planned, at 12:15 on Wednesday afternoon at Salzburg airport, where Matthias Bauer was already waiting to drive the players a further 60 minutes to Leogang.

There were already a few familiar faces waiting for Rangnick's players as the blue and white team coach arrived at Hotel Kirchwirt at 13:00 - this is the sixth time that 1899 Hoffenheim have travelled to Leogang. Having moved in to their rooms, grabbed some lunch and taken a bit of time out to relax, Ibisevic and co were able to enjoy a bit of quiet time for the first couple of hours after their arrival - only until 16:30, however. The first training session took place on the training fields of SC Leogang. Following a short warm up with the players head coach Ralf Rangnick started the session with some training exercises. However that first piece of bad news wasn't far off - Manuel Gulde had to be taken to a nearby hospital after injuring his left ankle, and the results are not yet known on the severity of the injury.

While his teammates were busy with ball work, Carlos Eduardo was undergoing an individual fitness schedule that had been planned for him by Yannick Obenauer. The Brazilian will eventually be joining back in with his teammates' training sessions during the training camp - he rejoined the team on Tuesday following his eardrum operation. After the exhausting first session in Leogang, a lighter regeneration training session was on the programme, so that the player's tired legs could warm down and be prepared for tomorrow's activities. Midfielder Tobias Weis is looking forward to the coming 11 days in Austria: "We have trained hard back home and now want to carry that on here. After a tiring week of training we're now enjoying a change of scenery. I'm looking forward to the remaining days, especially because we'll soon be doing a lot more ball work."
