Interview with Andreas Beck

1899 Hoffenheim picked up three injuries in the space of just ten minutes in their match against Hannover 96 on Matchday 21. One of those victims was Andreas Beck, who will be out for the next few weeks with ligament damage. In an exclusive interview with achtzehn99.de, Beck speaks about his injury and his disappointment at crashing out of the cup against Bremen.

Andreas, how are you feeling following your injury?

I'm doing well. I used the last few days to give myself the required rest, but it's going to be a while before I can really put any pressure on it. I'll make sure I get that time as well.

You were very unfortunate to pick up the injury. Tell us how it happened from your point of view...

It was a classic collision. Haggui went for the ball with an outstretched leg and I tried to do the same, all at high speed. The pressure was on the knee and those kind of injuries occur as a result. I've got no complaints about the challenge. It was a bit silly of me to go in with my knee facing inwards, but it happened so fast that I didn't really have time to think about it.

Ralf Rangnick said that the injury wouldn't have happened if you had sewn the points up earlier. Do you agree?

I think so, yes. If we'd have scored a third goal then the game would have been over. When they scored, the game got a bit more aggressive and there were a few tasty challenges.

What are your plans for the next few days? Will you be using the new rehabilitation pool at the training session for the first time?

Yes, definitely! I'm going to be at the training centre in Zuzenhausen and will make full use of the rehabilitation and facilities there. It's important to get the right balance between rehab and fitness.

You watched Tuesday's game on the TV. What were your impressions?

If you look at the amount of injuries we had, we put in a very good performance. It was nice to see Prince [Tagoe] score his first goal, that will help him. It's a shame that we didn't make it into the semi finals. It would have been a good way to qualify for European competition.
