Fitness test in pleasant climes

Before the 1899 Hoffenheim first team squad head off on a well-earned break this Sunday, they faced one last fitness test on Tuesday morning. Having come through the previous tests in June and January in extreme weather conditions, the temperature was somewhat more agreeable this time.

The players underwent running, pulse and blood tests at the Zuzenhausen training ground for the third and final time this season. "We wanted to see what the players' stamina was like at the end of the season so that we can adapt their individual training programmes for pre-season," explained fitness coach Rainer Schrey. The acid test was conducted by Dr. Joachim Jost of the Rhein-Neckar Olympic Training Centre: "It was very demanding, but also interesting to see whether you've worked hard over the course of the season," said Christian Eichner following the 45-minute test.
