Andreas Beck: "I've recharged my batteries"

Andreas Beck has ended his extended holiday on Tuesday. The 23-year-old returned to training today and enjoyed being back with his team mates.

"The vacation was really good for me. I had to clear my mind and I was able to give my body a rest. My batteries have been fully recharged. I'm happy to be back and that things are kicking off again," said Beck. During the last days of his vacation, Beck already began to prepare to enter full training again. He jogged along the Neckar every day and engaged in several different exercises in his own home. While his team mates will be given some days rest following the intensive training camp at Baiersbronn, Beck will remain at the training centre and begin to prepare for a long and hopefully successful Bundesliga season.

The disappointment about not being nominated for Germany has meanwhile disappeared, despite the fact that the team of Jogi Löw is doing so well in South Africa. "I was a bit sad to watch the first group stage match, but I have meanwhile managed to distance myself from all that thanks to my vacation," explained Beck. He does still write the players and caretakers texts of congratulation and hope they do well. Beck is confident that Germany will progress to the semi-finals on Saturday, when they face off with Argentina. "Those are games everyone in the world looks forward to. I reckon that it will be a tight and exciting match. We have to perform similarly aggressive as we did against England and then we have a chance to beat them."
