Alexander Rosen takes on key role at the youth academy

Alexander Rosen was appointed, with immediate effect, as the new Director of Sports at 1899 Hoffenheim's youth academy on Sunday.

The Augsburg native steps into the position after it was vacated by Ernst Tanner, who was promoted in May 2010. In his new role the ex-professional, who made his Bundesliga debut in 1999 against Eintracht Frankfurt, will be responsible for overseeing all sporting aspects of the youth academy in Hoffenheim.

"I'm fully aware of the new responsibilities I have in this role, but I look forward to the challenge and promise to be fully committed to the task," stated Rosen, who describes himself as a complete team player. The 31-year old last made an appearance for Hoffenheim's reserve team and had a big part to play in supporting the team as they pushed for promotion that season.

"Alexander Rosen brings not only the necessary qualifications, but more importantly his ability to lead, which he has proven throughout his time as a player, as he communicates with a style that speaks to the other players", believes Bernhard Peters, the Head of Sports Development. Rosen is currently still being integrated into his new role, but is finding his way thanks to the help and expertise of both Ernst Tanner and Bernhard Peters.

Before he hangs up his boots, though, Rosen is hoping to make one last competitive appearance for the club. "When, is still unclear, but I want to make sure my playing career doesn't end because of an injury," explained Rosen.
