"A great start to the season"

A successful start to the Bundesliga season. We asked the participants of Hoffenheim's 4-1 victory over Werder Bremen. Find out what they said:

Ralf Rangnick (Head coach 1899 Hoffenheim)

We had great plans for this game and if you then fall behind that early it's a very bitter feeling. But my team did not appear impressed. We defended very well in the first half and the 4-1 half time result was great of course. We didn't allow too many chances in the second half, apart from some set pieces. Overall it was a great start to the season, but we have to keep working hard to stay on this path.

Thomas Schaaf (Head coach Werder Bremen)

Obviously we are disappointed about how this match panned out. If you want to take a result from here, you have to perform differently. We could now use the excuse and say that we have an important Champions League game on Tuesday but we won't do that. We will keep looking ahead and make sure that we analyse this game in great detail.

Andreas Beck (Captain 1899 Hoffenheim)

It was noticeable that everyone was willing to work for one another. Otherwise such a great performance wouldn't have been possible. We knew that some things had to change after the previous season and now we have well functioning team again. Today's game was nothing more than a good start. We are not allowed to back down now, we have to keep working hard.
