1899 in 2010: Gustavo strikes for the first time

achtzehn99.de is taking a look back at 1899 Hoffenheim's 2010. What experiences have our players gained, which moments have stuck in their memories? How many unforgettable highlights did 2010 give us? Which set backs did the men from Kraichgau have to overcome? September is certainly a month that will live long in the memory of one 1899 Hoffenheim midfielder as it was the month that he broke his long standing goal duck to score his first ever Bundesliga goal.

September couldn't have had a better start for 1899. The men from Kraichgau had previously scored a superb victory over a strong Schalke 04 side ahead of their clash with Kaisersluatern. Hoffenheim were under pressure from the get go and were struggling to find their feet before an inspired move led to a fantastic goal. It all started with Tobias Weis, who strolled through the midfield before finding Ibisevic. The Bosnian striker linked up with Demba Ba on the flanks and the Ivorian proceeded to smash the ball across goal where a waiting Luiz Gustavo was ready to pounce in order to score his first ever Bundesliga goal after over 60 appearances. "It was a brilliant feeling, but I would have preferred the three points if I'm honest", explained the Brazilian superstar when asked about the goal.
