Tobias Weis on the road to recovery

Loud music booms from the gym of Hoffenheim's training facilities: While his comrades enjoy a free day after their second successive Bundesliga win, Tobias Weis is working hard on his comeback.

The 24-year-old midfielder underwent surgery on his left knee on 24th August and Hoffenheim physio Peter Geigle was very happy with Weis' progress in the first three weeks: "Tobias works very professionally and his rehabilitation schedule seems to be on course. He gets better by the day." Peter Geigle and his colleagues Michael Grau-Stenzel and Simon Stadler have been working on getting the knee back in working order and on reducing the pain with the help of specialist therapy. Also, the movement of the knee is going to be increased. During this week's rehabilitation program, coordination exercises and stabilisation are the core of the work. All going to plan, Weis could be back working with a ball again by the end of the week: "My knee feels good again. When I put it under a lot of strain, it still hurts a bit but it's getting better day by day", he said. The one-time German international, known as 'live wire' by his team mates, refused to give an exact date for when he will be back in Bundesliga action: "I don't want to put myself under too much pressure. I want to finish my rehab as quickly as possible and then we'll see what happens."
