1899 Hoffenheim grieves for Robert Enke

1899 Hoffenheim has received the news of the death of Robert Enke with bewilderment and dismay. Our thoughts are with his wife, family and everyone associated with Hannover 96.

Trainer Ralf Rangnick is saddened by the news: "I am speechless. Robert Enke was a phenominal person with a great character and personality." Manager Jan Schindelmeiser was "reflective and bewildered" by the news. "We're mourning with his family. It's hard to find the right words in these situations. We pray that those closest to him have strength during this difficult time." President Jochen A. Rotthaus has also been affected: "At the Bundesliga conference in Frankfurt on Tuesday we had discussions with Martin Kind and Jörg Schmadtke. The terrible news came out of nowhere and affected us deeply." The players have also been shocked by the news. Goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand said on behalf of the team: "I couldn't and still can't believe it. Football just slips into the background when these things happen. Our deepest sympathies are with his wife, family and Hannover 96." Robert Enke died on Tuesday evening aged just 32.
