Captain stays on board: Andreas Beck extends with TSG until 2017!

Andreas Beck is sticking around at TSG. Hoffenheim have agreed a contract extension with the captain that sees him stay at the club until 2017.

Alexander Rosen, sporting director: “We're delighted that Andi has decided to continue along this path with us. Andi isn't just valuable in a sporting sense, but he also plays an important role at our club as a captain and a person.”

Andreas Beck on his decision: “Hoffenheim was always my first option. I have experienced a lot and learnt a lot here – the club has found a special place in my heart over that time. This affinity, the faith that the staff and higher-ups have put in me and the positive direction we've been heading in lately clinched it for me. Now I'm happy that the matter is out of the way and we can continue with the next steps along our path.”

Born in Russia, the defender moved to then promoted-side Hoffenheim in July 2008. Since then, Beck has made 180 Bundesliga appearances (three goals) for TSG, as well as featuring in 14 German Cup matches. The 27-year-old had featured in all 30 league games this season prior to last weekend's match in Bremen, which he missed due to suspension.

Beck made 27 appearances for the Germany U21 national team and was part of the European Championship winning side in 2009. He also has nine senior Germany caps to his name.
